Michael Malenfant

Hello MASS DECA, my name is Michael Malenfant and I’m excited to be a part of the 2010-2011 Massachusetts State Action Team. I began DECA in my junior year at Apponequet Regional High School and I was the president, as well as the ‘Laker Hut’ manager during my senior year. While with Apponequet DECA I completed LDA in Anaheim, attended NARCON in Buffalo, competed nationally in the Finish Line Challenge, and placed fourth in the nation in the Financial Analysis Team Decision Making Event at ICDC in Louisville. This upcoming year, I will be attending Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, with a major in finance or accounting. I’m excited to be able to have the opportunity to continue my experience with DECA beyond high school, and work to improve the already amazing state association of MA DECA.

Past state officers Matt Storms and Erica Melito, two good friends of mine, inspired me to campaign for state office this past year.  The support from my close knit chapter and my committed advisor Frank Rosa allowed me to be elected to the action team, and I owe them a lot of credit for the hard work that they put in as well. I am excited to begin working with Team 52 to plan all of our conferences and make improvements to the organization as a whole.

Besides DECA, I have been involved in several activities in my school and community. My senior year I was the vice president of the National Honor Society, as well as the president of Apponequet’s DECA chapter. Beyond this, I served my community through the local MDA office and was a member of Apponequet’s basketball and lacrosse teams. I consider myself genuine, dedicated, outgoing, a leader and I always enjoy meeting new people. A future aspiration of mine, besides making my mark in the corporate world, would be to have the opportunity to visit all seven continents and explore what each has to offer.

DECA has helped me shape my future, and I cannot wait to see what it has in store for me in my term as a state officer. I am excited to serve MASS DECA and I am expecting the best DECA year yet!

DECA Creed

I believe in the future that I am planning
for myself in the field of marketing
and management, and in the opportunities
which my vocation offers.
I believe in fulfilling the highest measure of service to my vocation, my fellow beings,
my country and my God-
that by so doing,
I will be rewarded with personal satisfaction
and material wealth.
I believe in the democratic philosophies
of private enterprise and competition, and in the freedoms of this nation-that these
philosophies allow for the fullest development
of my individual abilities.
I believe that by doing my best to live
according to these high principles,
I will be of greater service both to myself
and to mankind.
