John Tutty, Jr.

Greetings MASS DECA! My name is John Tutty, Jr. and I am honored to be one of your State Officers for this upcoming year, and am excited to start my second year of competing in DECA as well. I am a senior at Beverly High School and am the Fundraising Coordinator for our DECA chapter. In addition to DECA, I am a member of National Honor Society, the Attendance Review Board, and am involved in my school’s Leadership Council. Outside of school, I spend my time working, reading, and watching comedy films.

After enrolling in my first Marketing class during my junior year of high school, I became intrigued by DECA and looked forward to competing. After attending Districts, I realized that I would like to lead MASS-DECA and decided to run for a position on the State Action Team. During the 2009-2010 DECA year, I competed in the category of Accounting Applications and was a Semi-Finalist for my written exam score at the ICDC.

In the future, I plan on attending a college or university, and double majoring in Economics and either Accounting or Finance. DECA has confirmed my desire to major in a Business-related field in college and has been a phenomenal experience for me thus far. I look forward to leading an extraordinary year for MASS-DECA as your State Officer.

DECA Creed

I believe in the future that I am planning
for myself in the field of marketing
and management, and in the opportunities
which my vocation offers.
I believe in fulfilling the highest measure of service to my vocation, my fellow beings,
my country and my God-
that by so doing,
I will be rewarded with personal satisfaction
and material wealth.
I believe in the democratic philosophies
of private enterprise and competition, and in the freedoms of this nation-that these
philosophies allow for the fullest development
of my individual abilities.
I believe that by doing my best to live
according to these high principles,
I will be of greater service both to myself
and to mankind.
