Erica Melito

Hello MASS DECA, my name is Erica Melito and I’m eager to serve as a MASS DECA State Officer for 2009-2010. I’ve been involved with DECA since my sophomore year at Stoughton High School. The second I stepped into my first marketing class, I never looked back. Since then, I’ve been an active member of our growing chapter, serving as an officer on Stoughton’s own “Action Team”. In my first year in DECA I competed in Buying and Merchandising Management, where I was the youngest female from my school to win at the state-wide level and compete internationally in Atlanta.
It was after witnessing a close friend and fellow DECA member Jackie Gonski serve as a 2007-2008 State Officer that I decided I too wanted to help serve our state, and being elected onto the team has been one of the most rewarding and exciting experiences of my life. I can’t wait to start working with Team 51 and with our members to share our passion for DECA and to help make our organization even better.
Along with DECA, I’ve been involved in an eclectic group of activities at Stoughton High School. I’m a member of our National Honor Society, editor for the school newspaper, and a member of the Stoughton Youth Advisor Council, where I participate in numerous community service activities around town such as Habitat for Humanity.
My long term goals are not only to serve MASS DECA well, but to attend a college or university with a major in Political Science and eventually attend law school. Many people would describe me as dedicated, charismatic and personable, and I hope I’m able to meet many of you throughout my term.
DECA has truly been an amazing and indescribable experience for me thus far, and I can’t wait to add to that while serving as a member of your MASS DECA State Action Team.

DECA Creed

I believe in the future that I am planning
for myself in the field of marketing
and management, and in the opportunities
which my vocation offers.
I believe in fulfilling the highest measure of service to my vocation, my fellow beings,
my country and my God-
that by so doing,
I will be rewarded with personal satisfaction
and material wealth.
I believe in the democratic philosophies
of private enterprise and competition, and in the freedoms of this nation-that these
philosophies allow for the fullest development
of my individual abilities.
I believe that by doing my best to live
according to these high principles,
I will be of greater service both to myself
and to mankind.
